  Our aims
Our aims
We should like to cover the following fields:
Origin of the name Theories about the origin of the name:
There are various theories as to the origin and the meaning of the name Finkbeiner. Here is the place for them. Whoever knows others, please do not hesitate to send us an e-mail.
Baiersbronn Baiersbronn, Black Forest:
As all Finkbeiners have their roots in Baiersbronn/Black Forest, it may be of interest to present this town in more detail.
Emigration The emigration:
Among the emigrating crowds, there were of course many Finkbeiners who tried to improve their lots in other countries. The United States come to mind first; but emigration to Russia will also be explored.
Family trees Family trees:
This is our most ambitious project. There exists quite a voluminous family tree consisting of the male descendants of Jerg Finkbomer (1480-1520) down to about 1870. It was put together by Wilhelm Günter, Freudenstadt. Its eleven branches cover sixteen pages, format DIN A 3. We still have a problem presenting it here. Have patience, we are working on it.
Maps Location of the Finkbeiners:
It may be of interest to know where there are Finkbeiners and about how many are in each place. With the help of a phone CD we can map out the Finkbeiners in Germany. The same procedure should also be feasible for other countries. Maybe someone will take it on...
Newspapers Family newspapers:
We shall publish contributions from the "Finkbeiner Information". This fine family newspaper is one of our sources; it certainly deserves to be more wide-spread. You may subscribe to it through , Baiersbronn. It appears every three months and costs DM 17/year in Germany; abroad, postage must be added.
An english version for Canada and USA can be ordered from .
Meetings Travelogues of the international Finkbeiner meetings:
Besides the many smaller meetings in the United States, the "International Finkbeiner Reunions" take place every other year. We will report about them.
